Maria Jenkins is a current student at Bowling Green State University. She has been studying photography since 2016 and is expected to graduate with her BFA in studio art in May of 2020. She also studied art history and photography abroad in Italy at the Studio Arts College International in the summer of 2019.
Maria makes all of her work on a 4×5 large format view camera using black and white film. She is best known for her cinematic environmental portraits of her close friends and family. The portraits themselves use direct sunlight and shadows to create a wide range of tonal values that accompany the psychological aspect of the people in the photograph. Her work has been represented in on campus shows, as well as other shows in Bowling Green and Toledo, Ohio.
